1985 roller cam/lifters or 1984 flat tappet? Empty 1985 roller cam/lifters or 1984 flat tappet?

Hi, I have a 1984 Buick w/ 307. I can get a 1985 engine complete for $100. Is it worth buying and using the roller lifters?
    Thanks,

1985 roller cam/lifters or 1984 flat tappet? Empty roller cam

Is that 1985 307 engine an Oldsmobile engine?

If so you will have almost twice as much in it being built as a Chevy 350 or a 383 stroker.

They can be made to run, but expensive to do.

    Good luck!   Rolling Eyes

The older one works a lot better. The roller cam 85+ have different heads with tiny ports. I've also personally owned and driven a few of both and the 84 and older has way more torque off the line.
